Paladino Attacks Gays in Brooklyn Speech
Carl P. Paladino, the G.O.P. candidate for governor of New York, said that children should not be “brainwashed” into thinking that homosexuality is acceptable.
I hope that is the end of him.

Web Upgrade HTML 5 May Weaken Privacy
In the next few years, changes in the way the Web works could give marketers access to many more details about computer users’ online activities.
I will think on this.  So much is advertising supported that turning off cookies is not really an option.  Multiple machines may be a way.
If the machine has traditional multiple personalities there would be little problem.
The  browser has a subset of cookies that it reports when queried. There is no requirement of self incrimination as yet.  We are going to have to write smarter user code that tells the advertisers less.  We will just have to get smarter about what our machines report.  Turning off cookies entirely does not work.  Maybe we can teach them to lie.

Mr. Kamkar said of advertisers who placed tracking cookies on his computer. “However, I should also be able to opt out because it is my computer.”

Google has been working on vehicles that can drive themselves using software.

    Test Your Savvy on Religion
Take this pop quiz on world religions. It shows why we should not rush to inflammatory conclusions about any faith.
Again there is  the self interest of the sects to consider.

Brand-Name Journalists Cross a Vanishing Divide
More and more, the dichotomy between mainstream media and digital media is a false one.   Institutional repute has long been a big factor.
    Always consider the source.

Twitter, After Number of Users Surges, Turns to Ads
Google and Facebook are must-buys for advertisers online, and the ad industry is watching Twitter closely to see if it follows a similar path.
Something must pay for the contents and the can.

      Blurring by Choice and Passion
I started writing this column while spending the weekend at the Jersey Shore where my mom has a home, and where, for most of my childhood life, work and life blurred together. My parents, who owned a series of beachfront motels while I was growi...

Yes, I blur.  I try for some separation.
