Web Upgrade HTML 5 May Weaken Privacy
In the next few years, changes in the way the Web works could give marketers access to many more details about computer users’ online activities.I will think on this. So much is advertising supported that turning off cookies is not really an option. Multiple machines may be a way.If the machine has traditional multiple personalities there would be little problem. The browser has a subset of cookies that it reports when queried. There is no requirement of self incrimination as yet. We are going to have to write smarter user code that tells the advertisers less. We will just have to get smarter about what our machines report. Turning off cookies entirely does not work. Maybe we can teach them to lie.
Mr. Kamkar said of advertisers who placed tracking cookies on his computer. “However, I should also be able to opt out because it is my computer.” -
