Pitching is about skill as it influences luck.  Cliff Lee is skilled.

The Healing Powers of a Pie Shop

A wonderful idea reborn with a new introduction.  It is a lunch counter like the one found in Detroit in 1900.  Henry Ford, Robert Olds and Walter Chrysler used the one in Detroit.  There was another in Palo Alto in 1950.

Scholars Return to ‘Culture of Poverty’ Ideas
Decades after Daniel Patrick Moynihan, scholars are conceding culture and persistent poverty are enmeshed.

OFFICIALS PUSH TO BOLSTER LAW ON WIRETAPPING
Telecommunications companies in recent years have begun new services and made system upgrades that create technical obstacles to surveillance.
Security people always want more power.  This attempt happens to be unconstitutional.  The people pushing for it may not have thought of that.
Under any rational interpretation, the freedom to encrypt is included in the freedom of speech.  The government is also not allowed to violate the privacy of the mail without a court order.  They are just going to have to figure out a work around.  There is no expectation of privacy for broadcasts.  They should see what can be done with that.

One of the pleasures of being a dedicated “Mad Men” fan – and what are you doing here if you aren’t? – is connecting with other viewers whose knowledge of the show is as encyclopedic and as obsessive as your own. And no one fills that role better ...
