      iPhones for Toddlers

I see no reason why not other than the bill at the end of the month.
One with a soft cuddly shell would be better.  Best, soft and cuddly with food.

Benoit Mandelbrot, Mathematician, Dies at 85
Dr. Mandelbrot, a maverick mathematician, developed an innovative theory to study uneven shapes and applied it to physics, biology and many other fields.
Yes, I am familiar with fractals. I hope he got his Nobel.

The Tools You Really Need to Maintain Your Home
“The Tools You Really Need to Maintain Your Home - http://nyti.ms/92Q5bB”
For home repair there is no end of things needed.  Skills can be learned from books and the net.  The greatest need is a plan that does not overpower. As you make the plan, discover the skills required to execute it. Learn the skills, and buy the tools needed. There is no point in owning tools you do not understand or in having skills that require tools that are not available.  Send me a plan and I will send back a list of tools and skills.  There are many and I am not as competent as  I could be.  I am the about as good as any I know of.

    iPhones for Toddlers
Smartphones may mollify a fussy toddler, but does this new Toy of Choice inhibit a child’s development?  At a guess, no. The skills required are a toddlers. When the Child wants to move on it should be encouraged.

The deal was fiction.   All I can do is wish the parties good luck and sell cheap guns to the south.

A good idea.  There should be parental controls to limit the bill.

On Location: A Tiny Victorian Cottage
“On Location: http://nyti.ms/cdkRni You've got to love the his and hers ramshackles and that nytimes had 16 photos dedicated to them!”
I heartily approve the concept but hate the Victorian period of design.
The proper way to do things is often not the old way.  Design and details need more attention than revivalists can manage.

Celebrating Boomboxes, the ‘Instant Parties’ of the ’80s
A New York photographer’s ode to the boombox, which turned cities into youth parties in the pre-iPod era.
I have seen speakers for your iPod. A battery portable version might be a great product but I do not wish to encounter it on the street. The FM re-transmitter and an old boom box are close enough. There are or were "kited amp speaker set-ups that would take audio from any source. Battery computer speakers are an example. Pre-amps correct the audio compression.

Don't pay for what you don't want. If they won't play, don't pay.
If others want more, they can pay.  They are all responsible adults.
Would it matter to you if the tube went black and silent? Aside from the elder amusement and stimulation it provides it would not matter to me.

Showing Gay Teens a Happy Future
A new online video channel is reaching out to teenagers who are bullied at school for being gay. The message: life really does get better after high school.  High school is in the past for all of us.  Things should be pretty good.  If they are not it is an individual responsibility.  I will help if I can.

U.S. Will Enforce Marijuana Laws, State Vote Aside
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. is the latest establishment figure to line up against a marijuana legalization initiative.
How will they do that? They have no domestic power beyond money and investigation.  Will the FBI refuse to look into California cases?

    The Mississippi Pardons
Two sisters serving life sentences for an $11 robbery are seeking clemency from a governor who has pardoned murderers.
For the same reason they are in prison there will be no pardon.
Mississippi must change its political culture.  I fear this means the blacks must join the main stream and vote their interests. "Reading is fundamental."
