U.S. Military Orders Less Dependence on Fossil Fuels
With insurgents attacking American fuel supply convoys into Afghanistan, the military is pushing renewable energy sources like solar power.

It makes a nice story.  Good headlines.  It would be far better to fix Pakistan.  It would be even better to stop shooting people for exercising their religion and their customs.  9/11 was never more than a police matter.

“Guilty on 16 Counts in Connecticut Triple Murder - http://nyti.ms/cA4SdB "LOL?" Sick. ”These things should not happen.  How can they not happen?  I doubt a gun in the house would help. A gun on the belt might.  I do not want to live in a world where that is necessary. I want to fix that world.

Two Win Nobel for Work on Ultra-Thin Material
Two Russian-born scientists shared the 2010 Nobel Prize for physics for experiements with graphene, a super-thin carbon material.
The committee was very fast with this.  There is a long way to go for practical application.

    That’s Where the Money Is
John Boehner is the quintessential example of shameless government figures guiding the fortunes of the rich and powerful.
It is about time this made the papers. Where has Mr. Herbert been these last few years?

I remember international awards for campaigns in the fifties.
I did not think they had stopped.  Certainly some adds are better than others.   This is something I don't want to think about yet.   It is good employment for a psych major.  Burnout is constant.

There is a good list on the Wikipedia.

Books get banned for the most trivial reasons.  A good thing there is the unregulated net.

For the A-Cup Crowd, Minimal Assets Are a Plus
Many women these days want to showcase their small chests, not pad them out. Retailers are listening.
The wrapper does not fascinate me.  The core of your being does. I will spend as much time with it as I am permitted to spend.

The heavy oiling may have passed but BP and the entire gulf coast are still a centre of attention.  The rules have changed and must not change back to what they were.  The businesses will be effectively regulated and operate safely for all.

Paris Rediscovers Monet’s Magic at the Grand Palais
A major re-evaluation of the work of Claude Monet finds the enduring magic behind familiar images.
I have been floored by the Monet water lilies at the modern.  I am even more impressed by the universality of the reaction.  My niece Emily taught herself to paint and was carrying on about the museums of Boston when she came down for a visit in her senior year of HS. There was a Shiele show in the temporary galleries which I thought she should see.  It was noisy getting in and there was a bit of time. I ran her up to the Monets and had sudden silence. We walked the Shieles and went home exhausted.  Emily is now doing a PHD in history of science at Harvard, her alma mater.
She got some revenge.  She ran me through the Gardener.  I was properly impressed.

    Change or Perish
A lament for the life we lost and an admission that it had to go.
"Not while I live and remember." We may have stuck a fork in it but it is still with us.  If things are not better than they were they will pass and be replaced by better things.  Lies do not last.  Age and the sweet confusion of age.  We did do just fine.  We will do better.  Jazz is again, it must grow.
Queen is gone.  Ac - Dc is gone.

OK.  A prohibitive tax on fossil carbon.  Let us begin to wind down the oil business.  Ending our war in South Asia will help. the terrible economy will help.  Turning off and sleeping will help.

I will look at this when I wake.
