North and South Korea Exchange Dozens of Artillery Shells
North and South Korea exchanged artillery fire on Tuesday after artillery fired from the North struck a South Korean island near the countries’ disputed western sea border.
North Korea is feeling desperate.  Another bad harvest . . .

Taliban Leader in Peace Talks Was an Impostor
American and Afghan officials say that a man purporting to be Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansour, a key figure in negotiations who was paid by the West, was faking.  A victim of ignorance is a sense of proportion.

    There Will Be Blood
One of our parties has made it clear that it has no interest in making America governable, unless it’s doing the governing.
Faith leads to conviction after prosecution.  Executions soon.

      Miracle on 33rd Street
      “Miracle on 33rd Street - http://nyti.ms/gvG1gH”
People love the Beaux Arts.   They think it is Victorian.  I remember Penn Station.  It died with the rail road.  The nexus there is usable and that is enough. The addition is for the rest of the nation, an Amtrack improvisation.

Growing Up Digital, Wired for Distraction

Children are and always have been wired for distraction.  It is called learning as opposed to training.

Radiation Worries for Children in Dentists’ Chairs
Children are vulnerable to radiation, but dentists use X-ray film requiring high levels of it, and orthodontists are embracing technology that emits more radiation.  The perio guy I am using uses electronic imaging.  He claims very low dosages.  If the dosage is indistinguishable from background it makes no difference.  Most places the background is rather high.  In dental offices it is very low with short peaks.  Know more, worry less.  Dental Xrays are important.

Telehealth Devices Monitor Patient Information at Home

I will let the next care-giver decide how this applies. I will get the lungs clear, possibly with another hospital stay.   She needs a keeper but is nice about it still.  Automated systems will not do the job unless the trip is under an hour.  Much of it is just hand holding.  A stranger will not do.  It is probably time for a live in aid.

      The Riddle of Cancer Relapse
The hope to cure cancer rests on finding the right kind of drug. But what if we have to first find the right kind of cell?

A Journey From an Artist’s Barn to a Mansion’s Walls
Doris Bryant Makas, who modeled for the artist Charles Webster Hawthorne nearly a century ago in Provincetown, Mass., found herself in a portrait on the walls of an Upper East Side mansion.
Provincetown      I would camp on Monomoy.

I hope it is obvious.  I love you. I lust for you.
I want to be with you. I want you to be with me.
I cannot accomplish this by force.  Instruct me.
                                   I love you.

University of Cape Town Sees Affirmative Action Rift
The University of Cape Town is engaged in a searching debate about just how far affirmative action should go.
Admissions should be race blind at the professional level. In southafrica that means the undergraduate schools. considering their other problems, tuition and fees and other expenses should be paid from the public purse.
Elementary through high school need some form of affirmative action.
I suggest adjusting the pay scales until the applications for employment are just as plentiful at the most damaged populations as at the most elite schools. Books, supplies and clothing should be state issued without charge to the students.  There should be a very high graduation age limit.
It is 21 in NY. Try 40.
