I have neither the money, the time, or the interest to participate.  This will be a provincial fashion bash.  I do not expect to regret missing this party.

Understand that Islam is a designed religion.  It is easy to join and nearly impossible to leave. It is intimately interwoven into cultures.
Any attempt to change the form from without is viewed as an assault on the whole. Inadvertantly Atlantic culture deeply conflicts with the cultures of Islam. The flux of entertainment and other design is seen as profoundly destructive.  Add to that the emotional response by the Bush administration and, at their command, the US military. The result is we are at war with all of Islam.  Our best action would be to apologise  and withdraw. Do it now before the butchers bill for this mistake gets any larger.

Abu Dhabi and Qatar Build Museums to Recast National Identities
In Abu Dhabi and Qatar, large-scale cultural projects, particularly museums, are being planned and built in an effort to reshape corners of the modern Arab world.  Houston has several art museums.  The Persian Gulf is just as able. Some of these will get built.  I will be interested to see their catalogues.

There is still hope at the retail level. We will see how the post Christmas sales develop. Every one is forcing a smile.  We are still a democracy.

U.S. Shuts Down Web Sites in Piracy Crackdown
The Web addresses of several sites that posted unauthorized copies or aided in searches for downloadable films and music were seized by an arm of the Department of Homeland Security.

Developments will be fascinating.  The Supreme Court will have a really rough time with this unless the throw the mess out as unconstitutional.
This is speech and probably protected speech. What a lovely can of worms.

Patrons wait for hours for a Ghetto Burger at Ann’s Snack Bar in Atlanta, but the restaurant is still waiting for a buyer.

That “bailout” for Ireland mostly seems to be about the government imposing even more pain on its people, in exchange for a credit line. It’s not a workable strategy.  I concur.

Universities Tell High Schools Valuable Logos Are Off Limits
If a high school’s logo can be confused with a university’s, or if it is capable of diluting its value, universities often demand changes.
It is an amusement for the attorneys on retainer.
