    Can Exercise Keep You Young?
To #11 Master Trainer, I think you may have misunderstood #4, the 56-yr old man who exercises regularly, and whose body is still progressively weakening: If he was someone who exercised regularly since way back--and did not take up exercise in middle age--what he says makes a great deal of sense. Remember: exercise can SLOW down the clock, it cannot stop it; let alone turn it back. If someone has kept a lifelong habit of exercise, of course his body will continue to weaken with age; but it will weaken at a much slower rate. Even if he may continue to see gains through 50, eventually his body will begin to yield to time; no one can live forever. I actually hate saying this, because I am a huge proponent of exercise and, I too was a personal trainer many years ago. I'm now 61 years old and still love training and running. I merely wanted to clarify a point, and not allow people to have unrealistic expectations. Regarding people who hate exercise, I have found that the fun should come first, and then the physical will follow. That is, find an activity--whether a sport like basketball or tennis, or an activity like running or weight lifting--that you ENJOY; and do that. If you try to force yourself to do something you consider a chore, you will never stick to it in a lifelong pattern. Never. The most important thing is to find something you enjoy, whether alone or with a training partner. That alone can be the difference between success and failure, sometimes life and death.

That is all the difference.  Many have never found the joy in effort.
