Judge Rejects Google’s Deal to Digitize Books
A decision against a class-action settlement threw Google’s plans into limbo and undid years of negotiation.
the result will be a change of the publishers business model. appeals and settlements will resolve the dispute.  With some luck copyright will become time limited like patents.

Plane Tickets: Buy Early or Wait?: Practical Traveler
“Plane Tickets: Buy Early or Wait?: Practical Traveler - http://nyti.ms/gNd3iJ”
Oil will go up unless the world drops into depression. Buy on the dips or as early as will give the best price.  I am guessing just like everyone else.  Personally I am wondering what is keeping the deflation out of the price structure.  I expect the price of everything to fall as the world implodes economically.

Detroit Population Down 25 Percent, Census Finds
Laying bare a startling example of urban collapse, data showed the population falling by 25 percent in a decade.
When the money goes away, the population goes after it.  Think of the ghost towns of the west.  They are in the east too.  Think Fall River, Mass.

    Tribes With Flags
Are the new revolutions brewing in the Arab world democracy movements, or are they civil wars?
The wheels are coming off south Asia and north Africa.  Political legitimacy under Islam is questionable at best. The sooner we get congresses in these areas the sooner the shooting will stop. Order may flow from the barrel of a gun but legitimacy requires popular support.

Time to put these fire eaters in the assault groups.  The riot troops can be big men but we need some female combat vets to put the brakes on this kind of thing.
I have never met a combat vet that did not know that jaw jaw is far preferable to war war.

The Madoff customers mostly got their money back. They just did not know it at the time.  There are no hidden assets to distribute.

Do You Have Free Will? Yes, It’s the Only Choice
“Do You Have Free Will? Yes, It’s the Only Choice - http://nyti.ms/gDdWgw”
Free will and sentience are co-dependent.
One must have will in order to have free will.
The less aware of the decision one is, the less free the decision is.
