I have looked at perhaps fifty of these. so far nothing far out of line.
I begin to wonder who is suffering from these very porous trade barriers.

Yes, I remember the story. I have a bookmark for it.
The first staff I hire will be a book-keeper receptionist to take care of the front.  An older gay would be ideal. What I want are responses of buyers.  As things develop, I will take things on consignment with my approval.

Fantasims indeed.  David brooks plays the pot calling the kettle black twice  and then wanders onto how the news media are abusing us all where he does it again.

Spring Cleaning: Gadgets You Can Get Rid Of
As technology changes, devices are doing more. Instead of accumulating gadgets, we can cut back. Here is a list of items you may not need anymore.
I will keep my point and shoot and I will get a gps box.  Cable I have refused to get and I will get broad band when I get there if it is not already installed.  I may just get a smart phone.  I am very unhappy with this tablet. A bitter pill indeed.  It will be interesting to study device hacking on it.  I will get the case open soon.

Little Acts on a Big Planet - Readers' Comments - NYTimes.com
Andy – thanks for the post today on trash in our waterways. We saw pictures and heard stories like this from over 6,000 sites last year as part of our International Coastal Cleanup, the world’s largest volunteer effort for our ocean. I worked with over a hundred volunteers along the Anacostia Riv...
The effort and the need continue.
Ocean dumping only saves it for later.
The Baltic coast is feeling very nervous
The Rhine policy seems effective.  If you put it in, you have to pay the people downstream to take it out.

New Problems Arise at Japanese Nuclear Plant
The restoration of electricity at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station stirred hopes that the crisis was ebbing, but engineers said dangerous tasks still lay ahead.
The reactors are junk.  The problem is to get them cool and cut up.  The scrap will go to France as the contract states.  Let's stop bloviating and deal with it.

Elizabeth Taylor, Lifelong Screen Star, Dies at 79
Ms. Taylor, whose name was synonymous with Hollywood glamour, dazzled generations of moviegoers with her beauty.
Not my choice.  I preferred Katherine Hepburne.

In Libya, Companies Collide With Corruption
Since the United States reopened trade with Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s government in 2004, businesses have witnessed a Libyan culture rife with kickbacks, strong-arm tactics and political patronage.
It is called Islamic Legitimacy.  It is all a package.  They can teach the Mexicans.  Chess was invented in that culture.

Veggie Burgers So Good, the Only Thing Missing Is Meat
“Show some love for these veggie burgers... "So Good"... - http://nyti.ms/eZEumZ”
Beef is good.  So are vegetables.  I am not a Chinese Buddhist. I can eat both.  I can do things that are good to eat With almost any material.  I will cook for my table.  Meat is an easy start but veg is also easy and good.  Dogs are obligate carnivores as are cats.

As Phones Become Mobile Wallets, Businesses Want a Share
With cellphones ready to act as credit cards, banks, carriers and card issuers are fighting for control.
A debit card system seems much more likely.  Now for a way to transfer credit between devices.  I would like to insist on a disable switch under user control.

Nuclear Waste Needs to Be Stored. But Where?
The nuclear crisis in Japan has caused new arguments over a derailed repository for spent fuel at Yucca Mountain in Nevada.
We can "burn" it with spaled neutrons. If the scale is right, it is energy positive.
We just need better public relations and politicians with some real nerve.
Pu 240 is a great fuel in low concentration.

Child Welfare Workers Face Homicide Charge in Brooklyn
“Seriously? How does this help solve our child welfare crisis? Anyone? http://nyti.ms/ihrIsC”
This is a grandstanding district attorney.  If we need more child welfare workers, hire them, pay them, there are people who desperately need the work.  This family tragedy could have been avoided by abortion if the mother could get one.  It could have been prevented by foster care, if funds could be had.  It could have been stopped by involuntary hospitalization if we still did that.  It never would have been if twelve hour child care were available on demand.
There is no credit for punishment after the fact.

A Digital Library Better Than Google’s
      “A Digital Library Better Than Google’s - http://nyti.ms/gE6GxS #dpla”
One is building on line.  It will be good if Google can break the publishers.  I will read on line but a book on paper is worth a modest premium over the cost of putting it there.  Baen has found that online publication may improve the sales of paper.  It does not have a negative effect.
