A tsunami hit the coast of northeast Japan on Friday after an 8.9 magnitude earthquake offshore. Waves of more than 12 feet were seen roaring inland.

Television networks across the world carried dramatic footage, some of it live, of the tsunami that hit northern Japan after a massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast.
This can happen just off the west coast. Ask the USGS for the geological record and a map of probabilities. I expect you have done so. -
