The obit. on this should be fascinating.   Sirius Satellite Radio should find a place for Olbermann.  WNYC has a quorum.

There are two . . .       No, Culture is schizophrenic. It is also a dipole.
The axis is mind body. Direction of action matters.  If the body works on the mind it is called science.  If the mind works on the body it is called art.

“#SuperYacht, Both New and Used, Are Selling Slowly - http://nyti.ms/g4Wgwx”
A super yacht is of no interest to me. I don't want to own one or to design one.  The boats that interest me get me on the water at small cost, run very nearly fossil carbon free, and allow me to enjoy peace and freedom, especially from the concerns of business and finance.  This behaviour is anathema to those who own super yachts. If the coast guard regulations did not require it I would not have a VHF.

He will come back to the air.  There is the net and radio broadcast.  His contract will have been very restrictive to silence him.
"Mr. Olbermann did not discuss any future plans, but NBC executives said one term of his settlement would keep him from moving to another network for an extended period of time."
Some part of management hates and fears him.

The standard for the limit on free speech has been crying fire in a crowded theatre.  This seems to reach or exceed that standard.  I think there is law to suppress lynching. there is more law on the incitement to riot.

Test-Taking Cements Knowledge Better Than Studying, Researchers Say
Test-taking actually helps people learn, and it works better than repeated studying, according to new research.

I have been told to do the problem set more often than I want to think.
Why is this news? I do think that doing the reading before the problems is a good idea.   Mostly the material has been so foreign to my thinking that I simply could not grasp the logical chain.

Slap to a Man’s Pride Set Off Tumult in Tunisia

Catastrophic failure.  If this action had not happen there would have been another shortly.
There may be other terribly unstable regimes.  Pakistan is always a prime candidate. The number of ways a government can fail is large.

    Myth of the Hero Gunslinger
    Informative essay.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Metropolitan_Police_Service
"The force did not routinely carry firearms, although Sir Robert Peel authorised the Commissioner to purchase fifty flintlock pocket pistols for use in exceptional circumstances, such as those which involved the use of firearms. Later, the obsolete flintlocks were decommissioned from service, superseded by early revolvers. At the time, burglary (or "house breaking" as it was then called) was a common problem for police. "House breakers" were usually armed, because it was then legal for members of the public to own firearms[citation needed]. Following the deaths of officers by firearms on the outer districts of the metropolis, and public debate on arming the force, the Commissioner applied to Robert Peel for authorisation to supply officers on the outer districts with revolvers. The authorisation was issued on the condition that revolvers would only be issued if, in the opinion of the senior officer, the officer could be trusted to use it safely and with discretion. From then, officers could be armed. The practice lasted until 1936, although the vast majority of the system was phased out by the end of the 19th century."
    The force is traditionally unarmed.

I consider this a useful lever to get action on the base problem.
International action is probably not possible. The first move must be internal.

Action is required. Direct action is limited. We can act against global warming by taxing fossil carbon heavily.
