      A Shark Fin Promotion Backfires
      “A Shark Fin Promotion Backfires - http://nyti.ms/dafyjQ”
It will take decades for the shark population to recover. The resource can be exploited to extinction. The fishermen's bank loans cannot be allowed to threaten species.
There are not plenty of fish in the sea.

Freakonomics Radio: Do More Expensive Wines Taste Better?
“Freakonomics Radio: Do More Expensive Wines Taste Better? - http://nyti.ms/fUMVRu Predictable findings, yet still an interesting read.”
The placebo effect is very strong.  One has to believe to feel/taste the power.  There are real differences but they are much smaller than the imagined ones.  Sales depend on the effect.

Gay Parents Find the South More Welcoming, Census Says
Census Bureau demographers say new data shows that Jacksonville, Fla., is home to one of the biggest populations of gay parents in the country.
The story of how this concentration came to be is simplicity.  The churches see the gay as curable they are encouraged to form heterosexual relationships and breed children.  When the relationships become intolerable,  The children are left with the women.  Just blame the churches.

For Whole-Grain Pancakes, Try a Little Tenderness: The Minimalist
      “For Whole-Grain Pancakes, Try a Little Tenderness: The Minimalist - http://nyti.ms/ifo2ra @bittman”
I object to his slander of whole wheat flour. The cheap stuff in my supermarket is made with a very soft wheat. King Arthur or other premium brands are made of harder high gluten wheat.
I have made whole grain pancakes, crepes and waffles for several years. The cornmeal cakes are in Rombauer.  I intend to try toasting oatmeal real soon.

    Sharing the Burden of Peace
Know that this will not happen while there are Republicans.  We make jokes about black helicopters but the fear of effective world government is very real to the red state set. I think it would interfere with their imperial dreams and smacks of the end of days.
