Congresswoman Shot at Event in Tucson
The Democratic congresswoman from Arizona was shot on Saturday along with several others at a public event at a grocery store, according to her spokesman. The Tucson Citizen reported that Ms. Giffords had been shot at close range in the head.
No report of the shooter other than a name and an anecdote. There is a bit more known now.

    America by the Numbers
A new report from the Census Bureau reveals data about many vital things, including water, jazz and bowling.
This is a really useless set of information.

    Where to Travel in 2011
From the beaches of Mexico to the wilds of Kurdistan, the places on this year’s list take you to the end of the world and back.
    I really don't care.
The place I want to travel is to you.
From there it is weather dependent.  March is late for Death Valley.  I have never visited the canyon country of Arizona.  The sea of Cortez as long as we stay well south.  Your Mexican resorts if you want services. All of Europe will be new to me.  The Sudan will not be a good place.  With you is my parameter. Pick a country and lets think about how to amuse ourselves there.

Arizona Orders Tucson to End Mexican-American Studies Program
The state declared the Tucson Unified School District’s Mexican-American program illegal, even while similar programs for black, Asian and American Indian students were left untouched.
The K.K.K. was not so selective last time.  Come to think of it, it is not so selective this time.

Temporary Restaurants: Now You See It, Now You Don't
“Temporary Restaurants: Chefs in NYC don't want to commit in this economy. Instead, playing w/ the dining formula. http://nyti.ms/grjHhW”  This is commitment. The attraction will be the food. The creators will show off and nothing needs to be permanent.  The owner of the building will probably offer an extension at reduced rent.  Building is halted.

    Misery With Plenty of Company
Policy makers are bending to the superrich while turning a blind eye to the nation’s poor.
Frank Herbert's snark is all too understandable.  It is not action.
