Tunisia Leader Shaken as Riots Hit Hamlet of Hammamet
“Tunisia Leader Shaken as Riots Hit Hamlet of Hammamet - http://nyti.ms/hz1hI4”
"Like others in the crowd, he said he felt emboldened to speak publicly without fear of reprisals. “Now, we can say we what we want,” he said. “It has started to change.”"

Notes from a Young American in Congo: Rape Continues
“Notes from a Young American in Congo: Rape Continues - http://nyti.ms/afedUr”
The Congo needs a 911 system.  If the women were as in touch as they wish the alarm would spread very quickly.  The response is another problem.  The solution is about the same.  Authorities that are non-responsive  would be quickly reported. and would be in some danger of assassination.  The wives of the police also live in the countryside.

    A Tale of Two Moralities
Though President Obama spoke to our desire for reconciliation, the truth is that we are a deeply divided nation and are likely to remain so.
"It’s not enough to appeal to the better angels of our nature. We need to have leaders of both parties — or Mr. Obama alone if necessary — declare that both violence and any language hinting at the acceptability of violence are out of bounds. We all want reconciliation, but the road to that goal begins with an agreement that our differences will be settled by the rule of law."
    Law must not be ignored.

Shooting Exposes Limits on Colleges Facing Troubled Students
“What'd I tell you? Limits on Colleges Facing Troubled Students - http://nyti.ms/dJUh6D”
Would psychological testing of incoming students be effective?
The S A T has been assumed to do it.  It may be possible to jigger it so as to serve as a filter.  That would draw screams.

Why Not Regulate Guns as Seriously as Toys?
After the tragedy in Tucson, let’s reframe the debate on gun control as a public health challenge.
It has been occurring to me that the excuse for arms in private hands is a well regulated militia.  There is a good deal of justification for the thought that those who are unfit for military service have no right to arms.  A psychological test for an arms licence would be a comfort to me.  It could be part of the drivers licence.

Girl’s Death in Tucson Hits Home for Obama
In the aftermath of a child’s shooting, President Obama has been thinking about his own daughters.
Why would he remind the crazies of his hostages to fortune?
Our officer corps should take similar thought. Every child has relatives, most of whom care about the children.  Even molesters care though not the way most of us would wish.

A Duane Reade in Brooklyn With a Beer Bar
Adding the beer station was a way for the drug chain to soothe concerns that it would run a local pharmacy out of business.
Talk about killer competition.  The next thing you know the bars will be filling prescriptions and the liquor stores selling groceries.
