The doctors do not do care. They diagnose and treat. Nurses do care.

“Converging on Little Egypt, With Anger and Hope - http://nyti.ms/eYV7lm”
There is a revolution in Egypt.  The people in the streets are calling for Sharia  Law.  There will be an attack on Israel and the Suez Canal will return to Israeli control along with all of the Negev.

How Meditation May Change the Brain
Over the December holidays, my husband went on a 10-day silent meditation retreat. Not my idea of fun, but he came back rejuvenated and energetic.  The all white field is Tibetan.  Mindfulness is a Zen garden as found in Japan.

Opposition in Egypt Begins to Unify Around ElBaradei
Cairo was seized by growing fears of lawlessness and buoyed by euphoria that three decades of President Hosni Mubarak’s rule may be coming to an end.
This may not be a good thing for our side.

Flickr, while a popular site for avid photographers, is facing a stiff challenge from Facebook and its simple services for sharing snapshots.
Blogger defaults to Flickr for pictures.

This is a very discontinuous report. It reads like four incomplete and unresolved stories were forced into one without rewrite or edit.
The author or authors do not understand either the technology or the business of these systems.
The result is this disjoint mess.

More Young Americans Identify as Mixed Race
Many young adults of mixed backgrounds are rejecting color lines that have defined Americans for generations.
The fights go on.  They may fade in time. I think they will.   The whole problem never should have been allowed.

At Apple, the Platform Is the Engine of Growth
Apple has managed logic-defying growth via its combination of popular hardware, software and services. But its formula may face longer-term challenges.
This man is living in a fantasy world. Apple is a closed architecture in hardware.  Software authors are very clever so that is not so important at the moment. Microsoft has been doing its very best to close its architecture. It is succeeding at great cost.
This battle is far from over.

The Republicans, who sold themselves as the uncompromising champions of Tea Party-fueled fiscal austerity, have discovered that most Americans prefer compromise to confrontation.

Google Finds It Hard to Reinvent Philanthropy
In 2004, Google promised to transform philanthropy. That goal remains elusive.
This is blood seeping under a door. There is a great deal of internal politics and personal relations here but little information on how projects are proceeding. Learning is going on the effort has not been abandoned.
I will hope for good things but I do not expect them soon. A good project for them is emergency forecasting. They are getting there but are still too narrowly focused.

It will not get one.  Regulation is supposed to limit the profitability of this part of business. This should limit its size.  This kind of business should not happen at all.

Spotlight Again Falls on Web Tools and Change
By cutting off Egypt’s Internet access, the president betrayed his fear that his weakness could be exposed.
Scoott Shane does not think in terms of encryption.  Information that cannot be read in the moment is unavailable. Password protection of a strong operating system is better than most privacy.

A Chicken Chain’s Corporate Ethos Is Questioned by Gay Rights Advocates
A Pennsylvania Chick-fil-A’s decision to sponsor a February marriage seminar by a group that has been outspoken against homosexuality has caused an outcry in the gay community.
The integration effort solved this problem.  Even a private business has no right to deny service. The supreme court recently gave corporations freedom of speech. As I understand it they are not denying service. They can probably get away with their behaviour.  We do not have to approve of it.
