My Life as an Undocumented Immigrant
A reporter talks about his illegal American dream.
Marriage to a citizen is probably his best option.
There is a family story about a divinity student who wanted to be a missionary.  The missionary society had a rule that all missionaries had to be married.  He had no romantic interests so he turned to a friend for help. The friend suggested that he make a list of the single women he knew of in order of preference and ask them serially. The student thought that a reasonable procedure and followed it.
Twenty second choice met the requirements but made him no happier.

Expert on Mental Illness Reveals Her Own Struggle
Marsha M. Linehan works with seriously suicidal people, having faced the same struggles when she was younger.
It is wonderful that she has not only survived but taught others how to survive.  Chemistry was not her way.

    American Express Teams With Foursquare
American Express cardholders will receive discounts at certain shops and restaurants on their cellphone through an alliance with Foursquare.
Why is the foursquare member with an Amex card special?
Are other random shoppers less important?
Are other credit card companies less worthy?
Is it that the combination indicates extreme suggestibility?

Lytro’s Camera Lets You Shoot First and Focus Later
The company’s technology allows a picture’s focus to be adjusted after it is taken.
Extremely neat but not very useful.  Far better not to have to focus.  I have some studying to do.

    The Breast Milk Cure
A miracle cure for childhood malnutrition is free and easily accessible, even in remote towns in Africa. Why is it rarely used?

    The Haunting of Rick Perry
Should Gov. Rick Perry of Texas enter the 2012 presidential race, he would enjoy a strange and remarkable escort — the irrepressible ghost of Cameron Todd Willingham.
I would like more details but a quick search will turn them up.
One murderous Texan is plenty.  We have a lot of cleaning up to do.

    Free to Search and Seize
The Fourth Amendment is weaker than it was 50 years ago, and this should worry everyone.
    Very true.
The investigators must have probable cause and a warrant.

Dutch Lawmakers Adopt Net Neutrality Law
The Netherlands has become the first country in Europe to ban its mobile operators from blocking or charging consumers extra for using Internet-based services like Skype.
It appears to be real.  I hope it spreads everywhere.  It is a cell channel
but it is only one each time.  There is no reason for a premium charge.

Home Brewing - Need a Beer? Hit the Basement
Home brewing, which was rendered illegal by Prohibition and not relegalized until 1979, is enjoying a resurgence.
It is alcohol.  12% is the Canadian standard.  I will pass.

China’s Swift Trains Are a Boon to Development, but a Costly One
Beyond controversies and cost concerns, high-speed trains are reducing hurdles posed by China’s size, bringing benefits in tow and posing challenges for the country’s competitors.
They are separate rail and privately financed.
American rails are owned by freight systems. Freight has priority.

Indiana Economy Stronger Than Others, but at a Cost
On the surface, Indiana seems to have weathered the recession rather well, but large cracks have opened in its economic foundation, a sign of just how severe the downturn remains.

How to Know if You've Been Hacked
The news just keeps coming of hackers breaking into company databases and making off with sensitive customer information — and crowing about it online. You may reasonably wonder if they got yours.
Looks like a good tool.  I am not real vulnerable.  I do almost no business on line.  The previous post looks like fun.  I am not real fond of Ubuntu.
I prefer Mandriva. I should try Fedora.  I am having no problems with XP.
