        Mind the Grid
“Mind the Grid - http://nyti.ms/cu6x0Y "trying to keep living in the moment" in #mindfulness”
"Nothing so concentrates the mind as the prospect of being hanged in the morning."  Dr. Johnson
Paying attention to the moment is worth much.
I am willing to live with what attention you can spare.
I do think camp councillor is an entry to friends and other work.

Connecticut May Limit 4-Year-Olds in Kindergarten
“Thinking of redshirting your not-quite-five-yr-old from kindergarten? So is the whole state of Connecticut - http://nyti.ms/mEzynl”
This looks to me like a job for "Head Start" Connecticut is being cheap with its poor.  Get them in as soon as possible, keep them in a day-care like program that lets them be social children until they are developmentally ready start first grade.  The studies have been done that show that it is well worth the cost to the state purse.

    Hubert Humprey, America’s Forgotten Liberal
It’s the 100th anniversary of Hubert H. Humphrey’s birth, and no one seems to have noticed.
Humphrey's was more the road denied than the road not taken.
Lyndon Johnson was a strange creature we have not seen for thirty to forty years.  A Texas Democrat and a machine politician. A model for Karl Rove but holding elective office.  I don't know how Joe Kennedy bought him but he stayed bought and put J.F.K's program through the congress. Part of his price was Vietnam, a conflict only a Texas Democrat could love.  Humphrey was Johnson's agent in congress.  Support for that war broke him and the Democratic party.  We have not yet recovered.  What we have are recrudescent Whigs.
I will remember Hubert Humphrey as a broken man who led a fractured party.

Afghan Army Takes the Lead in Zabul
“Afghan Army Takes the Lead in Zabul - http://nyti.ms/ivpDrW | Progress. ”
I wish I could believe this report.
The taliban are these peoples family, brothers, uncles, sons and cousins and themselves, they are much of the population.  They are not so insane as to make war when all they have to do is wait for us to leave them in charge.  We have promised to do that.  All it means is they would rather live and win.

      1966: Rib Roast of Beef
“For Oscar night, making Rib Roast of Beef recipe from the 1966 NY Times. Just call me Trudy Campbell. http://nyti.ms/gDqPfK”
Great prime rib is just that simple.  Doing more does not help.
Sirloin can be a bit more demanding but not much.
Remembering to keep things simple is most of cooking.

I am unsurprised that one is the best instructor in the business.
There is nothing unstudied in his presentation.
Acting is attention to detail and modelling fashion is acting of a high order.

Quinoa Pancakes - Recipes for Health
“Yum yum yum. Can't wait to make this! // Quinoa Pancakes - http://nyti.ms/ijYA3u”
      She is working too hard.
I have not tried quinoa but kasha works in this one.
Grind about a cup of kasha flour, toasted buckwheat.
I cleaned the Braun coffee grinder with a hand full of white rice
and ran kasha groats through for a cup of fine meal.
      separate two large eggs.
      Beat the whites stiff.
To the yokes add half a "makes a quart" package of dry skim milk, a cup of water, a third of a teaspoon of salt, a teaspoon of sugar (allows a good brown colour), beat.
Beat in a third of a cup of canola oil. Just a solid glug.
Mix in the meal. Mix in on slow the egg whites. fry on a smear of canola oil.  Makes enough for three.
Eat with apple sauce, yoghurt, raspberry jam or how you will.
      Good plain.

They can play naked if they wish.  They won't win in burkahs.
      The sport is athletic.
The players should be allowed to dress as they wish.
I will enjoy watching the play.  The players are a distraction.
