The Truth About Climate Change, Still Inconvenient
The climate deniers can’t handle it when one of their own goes off script.

“Pope Put Off Move to Punish Abusive Priest, Letter Suggests - http://nyti.ms/9sPG5p”It would please me to see this pope take a fall. I doubt it would do good in the longer term.

Married Gay Couples "Refuse to Lie" on Tax Forms
“Nina E. Olson nat'l taxpayer advocate ombudsman for IRS, acknowledged uncertainty re fed taxation same-gender spouses http://nyti.ms/fEdLNP”I have not been required to file for several years.I have not read the instruction book recently. The taxes due on the fifteenth (eighteenth) are those to the end of December 2010. More recent events will not affect them. Read the book and fill in the form. Thinking does no good, it just slows you down. You will have to use the AMT work sheet. Dependant child? read the description.

Museums Pursue Engagement With Social Media
Social media technology has created new opportunities for museums to create interactivity inside and outside of their walls.A favourite thing about the Gardener in Boston is that the art is allowed to die at its own rate.Drawing the broader public into the museum leaves me ambivalent. My engagement with art is personal and physical. I am deeply ambivalent about allowing the general public the same engagement with my works.Leave only footprints, take only pictures is more impact than we should have on another's work. Let us avoid the footprints if we can. -

A Shark Fin Promotion Backfires
“A Shark Fin Promotion Backfires - http://nyti.ms/dafyjQ”This makes me happy but the ulterior motive escapes me.As understanding grows, values change. How is the question.

Democrat in Chief?
It’s not clear that President Obama cares deeply about leading his party. That’s the real wild card in the midterm elections.I am not sure what happened to produce the result we are living with.It was not a failure of leadership.I suspect a failure to follow. It was apparent that health care would win so our lovely congress loaded it up with as much junk as they could and then quibbled about which junk would pass into law. For this act of greed they were punished in a rather unthinking way. Now everyone suffers except the very richest one percent. They cry, logically, that if they are made to pay taxes everyone will suffer. My mood is join the group.

Google Starts Science Fair, Pitching Products to Students
“Google is launching a science fair, where students can participate via the web. http://nyti.ms/dM8Agt”I have my doubts. Science is the understanding of reality And to do science is to increase the understanding of reality. It will be an unusual child who understands any aspect of reality sufficiently to press the limits of our understanding. Engineering is a much easier project. Making things that did not exist before is relatively well defined. The confusion of the two disciplines is common and almost never corrected.Under the discipline of evolution it is obvious that the egg came first. At some point a bird that was not a chicken laid an egg that hatched a chicken. The egg came first.

‘In a Better World’ and Other Films on Islam
“Times' piece searching for why H'wood ignores humanistic portraits of Muslims and Arabs. http://nyti.ms/hMA9vC”I do not want to teach the west the beauties of Islam. I want to seduce Islam with the pleasures and beauties of the west. The mode of assault is popular culture and the point of contact is the youth market. The breach has been made. We need simply to drive the seed of cultural destruction through it.

Eric Fischl’s ‘America: Now and Here’ Project
“Eric Fischl’s ‘America: Now and Here’ Project roving culture trucks to cross country LOVE the idea - http://nyti.ms/gVU8h3”
Many years ago I went there and talked to people. Their children probably think much as they did. I do not see how they could vote as they do if they did not. This will be one grand futile gesture if it happens. I still cheer them on.
