The Bipartisan March to Fiscal Madness
“The Bipartisan March to Fiscal Madness - http://nyti.ms/h3BW4M”
David Stockman is as nuts as the rest of them.   He is blinded by his theory. He is getting his numbers wrong and pretending to draw facts from those wrong numbers.  Perhaps the only true thing he says is the imminence of class war. He gets that wrong.  The rich are making war on the poor.  There is no sign of an assault on privilege by the former middle class.  The old poor are far too desperate to attempt a takeover.  Eating is a concern.

Geology is at least as informative as a thousand years of written history.
We can know how far the waters have been.
Earth quake detection and location is also well within our capability.
Long term monitoring and maintenance are things we are not good at.  political considerations degrade and disperse emergency systems that are not in regular demand.
Politically stable reserve resources are a problem for your agency's consideration.

The author, Steve Lohr, is living in a dream world or I am.
I was there for a good deal of this.  Other parts I have studied.
I think he is wrong on novelty, on impact, and on further development.
I wonder why fact checking did not reject this puff piece.
It seems to be a paid advertisement by I.B.M.

What About American Girls Sold on the Streets?
“This Passover, remember that slavery still exists... see Kristof's "What About American Girls Sold on the Streets?" - http://nyti.ms/gap1lO”
It is a bit different from chattel slavery. There is no recognition of the condition in law.  It is not debt slavery for the same reason.
      It is enthralment.
      Criminalizing pimping might help.
Support for the individual rescue efforts is the only thing I know that works.  It is properly a part of the witness protection program.
It must be sold to our reactionary congress.

I want nothing to do with this or similar confections.
A modest mill building will more than satisfy me.

      The Pay Wall’s the Thing
“@nytimes In case you haven't noticed, your new "ethicist" Ariel Kaminer is a total #fail. See the comments at http://nyti.ms/hshefE”
They can put up a pay wall. I feel absolutely no guilt about my use of the house subscription. The subscription supports the medium. The content is advertising supported and has been for many years. The price pays for the paper it is printed on.  If one of two things were to occur I would buy my own subscription.  I establish a separate household, or paid advertising disappears. We supported Newsday for far longer than they earned that support.

I liked keeping bees.  I was not skilled at it. If opportunity offers I might run a few hives. So much of it is ventilation and insulation. They will help but need some help.  Living out of town has real appeal to me but not enough to loose your presence.

Weeding is a large part of what a library does.  He may not feel that his discards are weeds but . . .
My librarian sister mentioned this fight.  Her mood is that it is trivial.

Getting From the Internet What It Knows About You
If a business collects information about you electronically, shouldn’t it give you a copy for your own use?
    Why?
It is their work product.  What they are selling.
You could buy it like other interested parties do. One file should be cheap.
