    Freezing Out Hope
After the pummeling in the midterm elections, has President Obama suffered a moral collapse?
I do not yet know.  So far he has given the conservatives a great deal of slack (rope).

Foreign Languages Fade in Class — Except Chinese

The mix keeps changing.  These students of Mandarin do not intend to be lackeys.  There are so very many mutually incomprehensible dialects.

      Speaking in Tongues
New York City has been like this. Gentrification has not been kind to it.
A new wave of immigration will aid the mix.

    From WikiChina
What if WikiLeaks got hold of a cable from China’s embassy in Washington? Here’s some of the “good news” that may have been sent home to Beijing.  Point by point: Enhanced pat down.  Yuck. New SALT. Republican blackmail.  A very conservative supreme court sabotaging the electoral system. Pet peeves. Railways, victims of suicide encouraged by the automotive and oil interests. Cell phone service, Ma Bell died by her own hand. Her children are fighting each other, the cable companies and government regulation.  American exceptionalism, he slimes the both parties by having the Chinese agree with Obama. In Afghanistan the Republicans are acting against national intrest so the Chinese presence in the north is Obama's fault.
