San Francisco Bay Delta Effort Falters
      “San Francisco #BayDelta Effort Falters - http://nyti.ms/g0szxb #cawater #sustainability”
People just won't hear that they are not going to make the money they planned on.  Westlands may have to find another source for the water. The other gangs are also out of luck. Desalination costs but it can be done.  Now will be cheaper than later.  Drip irrigation also works.  Fewer cows and houses looks best.

One Step Back From the Digital World
“One Step Back From the Digital World - http://nyti.ms/hxq8OR”
I can't walk and text at the same time. When I am looking with a viewfinder I am planning the shot, not experiencing the world. When I am involved with the computer, the world around me is far away.
The radio can distract me from the road. When things are busy, like the BQE, I do turn it off.  I am shocked at how little I hear it on the highway.
The digital world connects with the moment, it is not the world of real time. It will not hug me or feed me.

      101 Fast Recipes for Grilling
“101 fantastic & fast recipes from Bittman - get to grilling http://nyti.ms/9emnz4”
Winter grilling is for the cops.  I will enthusiastically grill in shirt sleeve weather.  A heating fire is more than a cooking fire can be.
      These are for the spring.

Aid Workers’ Deaths in Afghanistan Stir Debate on Strategy
“Aid Workers’ Deaths in Afghanistan Stir Debate on Strategy - http://nyti.ms/f0aFlP”
Development is our strategy and it is the nub of the conflict with Islam. The List sees development that does not go to sharieh law
as an assault on Islam.  We are not going to block commerce with South Asia.

I thought these attachment points long destroyed.  Bernstein will not be replaced until a competitor for West Side Story gets written.

Air Force Limits Access to Web Sites Over Secret Cables
Air Force personnel cannot view the Web sites of news organizations that have posted cables obtained by WikiLeaks while at work.

The only logic I can see to this is preventing the waste of time.

Opposition to Health Law Is Steeped in Tradition - David Leonhardt
Resistance to the expansion of the social safety net stems from tension between two competing traditions in the American economy.
"With every previous major expansion of the safety net, history has had a chance to prove the naysayers wrong. It may yet in the case of universal health coverage. But the decision now seems to rest with the nine members of the Supreme Court." A sad truth.

Queens Kitchen Is Base for Cooks Starting Businesses
A kitchen in Queens available for rental by the shift is serving many who were forced to change careers.
Dividing the time and the storage is the main problem. Transitioning a business to a committed space will give these people nightmares.

Intelligence Reports Offer Dim Views of Afghan War
As President Obama prepares to release a review of American strategy in Afghanistan, two new reports say there is a limited chance of success unless Pakistan hunts down insurgents.
There is an interest on the right in never being in the wrong.  There is even more interest in never admitting error.

    We’ve Only Got America A
A rising superpower (think China) and a rising group of superempowered individuals (think WikiLeakers) are currently challenging the world system.
Thomas Friedman has a problem. He seems not to realize that Ausange is an Australian national working in Britain. He has violated no British law.
He cannot violate American law as a non-citizen acting in a foreign land.
China is acting in nasty fashion to our standards. We can sanction their trade but we will not go to war with them.  Our actions have brought us to this condition and our actions must correct it.
Understand what has happened and how it happened.
The corrective action will be apparent.
That may require the abandonment of cherished beliefs.
Such is the price of truth.
