School’s Shake-Up Is Embraced by the President

This is lousy policy. It surrenders all but the grossest judgement.
It would be far more effective to discover where and when the failures are and correct them.  Many do not take place in the schools.
Telling the parents that their child's failure was instilled at home or in church is not going to be comfortable.

In 500 Billion Words, a New Window on Culture
A Google-backed project allows the frequency of specific words and phrases to be tracked in centuries of books.
Tracking a dependent action like word or phrase use will show a trailing function in literate culture.  An ability to track such in a subset of the written corpus would be far better and looking at concepts would be better still.

The balance in the Supreme Court must change For there to be a non-legislative correction.

    Wall Street Whitewash
The financial crisis has provided a teachable moment, all right, but not the one first expected.
Paul Krugman is far too much of a gentleman.

Giving Nurses a Leading Role in the Future of Health Care
“Giving Nurses a Leading Role in the Future of Health Care - http://nyti.ms/bd2vZy”
"And it is not spiraling costs or an overreliance on technology that is weighing most heavily on the health care system, but the sheer volume of patients it must serve." The change in the volume of patients will be rather small. The ones that are not seen now are the ones that die without treatment.
I understand that the physician shortage is artificial. Medical school entry has been limited by several interest groups.  Hospital treatment is in most cases and in almost all uninsured cases by medical student.
The supply of medical students is very easily and quickly increased.
Patient care is the nursing profession. The division between treatment and care is necessary and has been recognised in the past.
Health must provide and pay for both.  Care cannot be done with limited language or skill. Treatment requires different skills. Dynamic support requires both skill sets.

      Target Expands into Fresh Groceries
“Target Expands into Fresh Groceries - http://nyti.ms/eLagm8”
I think I will give this a miss. The problem with Fresh groceries is the limited production and the limited shelf life.  Dealing with the A&P is bad enough.  I will let the even larger retailers Try to solve the problems without me.

This could be important.  I have not been paying attention to womens wear. It has been very stable for the last twenty years in my view.
What it looks like to me is a dominant creative person grew bored.
It is late now but competitive pressure could have kept her working for another ten years and given us something new.
