A Food Manifesto for the Future
I will be very interested where this goes next.  The concept is right.

      More Bone, Less Fat
Excellent comments from all and so glad to see others sharing the extensive research on the positive benefits of exercise. Research studies by design, must look at one aspect of metabolism and then the experts Anna mentions have to put it all together with the entire body of research. Registered Dietitians, such as myself, do look at the whole person. That does't change the fact that individuals might have difficult circumstances; each of us must make the small changes first, [the easy wins] to maintain or improve our health. Long term, our society needs to look at how we can support prevention and good health with more activity and access to healty foods.
      • The article deals with exercise as activity.  Diet was held steady.
The conclusion was exercise is essential.

    The View From Tahrir
Today President Mubarak seems to have decided to crack down on the democracy movement, using not police or army troops but rather mobs of hoodlums and thugs. I’ve been spending hours on Tahrir today, and it is absurd to think of this as simply “cl...
Roman style infantry is the adopted method of crowd control.  The organization and discipline is more effective than the shock delivered by cavalry.

Clashes Erupt in Cairo Between Mubarak’s Allies and Foes
A choreographed surge of thousands of supporters of President Hosni Mubarak battled against a larger number of antigovernment protesters in Cairo.
    This is far from over.

Showing Gay Teens a Happy Future
A new online video channel is reaching out to teenagers who are bullied at school for being gay. The message: life really does get better after high school.
      Sooner is better.
I wonder what the gay teen death rate looks like after the Trevor project. Is it reaching its audience?
