    Droughts, Floods and Food
World prices of food are surging, and one major factor is the disruption caused by extreme weather.

Paul Krugman is rarely wrong. This is not one of those rare occasions.

AOL to Buy The Huffington Post
The deal would give AOL a major presence in journalism, demonstrating the company’s intention to rely more heavily on online advertising.
As far as I can see aol has paid Arena Huffington $315,000,000 to edit their content.  At that price they may let her do it.

We pay a great deal for peace of mind.
One of the things we pay for is the window that separates us from nature that includes humanity. The computer monitors that form the other part of my view look not into the world but into a series of filters that in turn look into a broader world than I can see with just my eyes.  The shape of that filter concerns me deeply though I can see it through none of my windows.

So much of what I don't look at is not just different but wrong and constructed to deceive.  The truth may be diverse but it is not improved by the addition of lies.
