Growing Ransoms Attract Somalis to Piracy
The monsoon season has ended and the Indian Ocean is calm again. For Somalia’s pirates, that means one thing: it is a busy time of the year.
We tried the marines.   Lets send the Foreign Legion.  They need a base.

Justice Thomas Speech Questioned by Common Cause
Discrepancies in reports about Justice Clarence Thomas have prompted questions to the Supreme Court.
I do not expect this to "have legs".

    Reagan and Reality
A new documentary offers a much-needed corrective to the ever-growing myth of Ronald Reagan.

Would the Bard Have Survived the Web?
Literary and creative talents often remain undeveloped unless markets reward them.
Yes, sales is the benefit, production is the cost.  We see a model of enforceable copyright in Linux. The G.P.L. works very well.  William Shakespeare would do very well under modern conditions.  Theatrical performance does in general.  Paid publishing has problems.  Baen Books
( http://www.baen.com/library/ ) reports that their free web publication does not hurt their sales and even drives sales in their back list.  Their authors have their doubts.

Bahrain Roiled After Second Protester Is Killed by Police
The killing on Tuesday during the second day of clashes in the Persian Gulf kingdom spurred the largest Shiite bloc to suspend its participation in Parliament.
American culture may yet win the GWOT.  It will win the war on Islam if we let it do its work.  It is not Conservative.

Facebook Officials Keep Quiet on Its Role in Revolts
While Facebook has become a tool for organizing protests, it does not want to be seen as picking sides.

Vanishing Act: 'Advisers' Seek Distance From a Report
“Vanishing Act: 'Advisers' Seek Distance From a Report on Derivatives Regulation - http://nyti.ms/hHwun9”

People really don't like to hear that they will not make the money they thought they could.
"That potential money is theirs by right." is a fundamental contention of Conservative business.  The slave trade made similar arguments.
