Phys Ed: Does Stretching Before Running Prevent Injuries?
If 16% get injured from running, I would propose to STOP RUNNING. It is that simple. Unless you go at this in a semi professional manner and only run on weekends, StOP RUNNING. Now, that is what these studies indicate to me.
That is not the burden of the study. Change your routine only with great caution.
If you static stretch now, continue. Static stretching does not appear to be beneficial but ceasing suddenly is harmful. Over a period of months replace the static stretches with gentle dynamic warm ups.
If you do not static stretch, adding warm ups slowly to the start of your routine will probably be beneficial.
Balanced exercise looks like an unalloyed good. I will have to take it up one of these weeks. I would rather do muscular work to some purpose and I do. I am not a warrior and do not need that level of fitness. Not getting injured in the course of living seems a wonderful goal.
