Does Your Language Shape How You Think?

The idea that your mother tongue shapes your experience of the world may be true after all.

Absolutely.

The article cites several examples. I was raised among engineers. I speak and think engineer. It is a very different world view. I learned a good deal of "Art" as an adult but I really do not think in it. Things need to work. "Spiritual" manipulations are completely intellectual for me. I know they work but I am headblind to them. I can get the effects of romantic verse but it is just the music built into the words. The emotion is not much in evidence for me. I never found a way into religious faith. I early saw that salvation was a promise without evidence and what damnation I could see was in this world. I do not think that makes me immoral or amoral. I just have to find my way without an abstract structure, an absolute standard. Law is very real as is the "social contract".
