U.S. Is Working to Ease Wiretaps on the Internet
In an effort that raises fresh questions about privacy, officials are preparing to seek sweeping new Internet regulations, arguing that they are losing their capability to track suspects.
This is a really bad idea.  If the government knows that a message passed that they want to read, They know where it started and where it finished.  This is probably all that they can know.  There will be no smoking gun in any such message.  Prearranged innocent phrases will suffice to pass the information.  If they do not know the start and finish, knowing the content will only tell them that there is something to know.  They promise not to do fishing. That would be fishing.  The routing information is on the outside of the packet and must be read by the routers to deliver the packets.

The proposed rules would have psychological impact only.  Busting the perps would have more effect.

Tell the security enthusiasts to sit down and shut up.  There are lots of holes for them to crawl into.  We do not want to make more.  An example is the "worm" found around Iran on Siemens controllers.

    Structure of Excuses
“Structural” unemployment is a fake problem, which mainly serves as an excuse for not pursuing real solutions.

    He proves it.

As L.S.S.I. Takes Over Libraries, Patrons Can’t Keep Quiet
Library Systems & Services was hired to run the libraries of Santa Clarita, Calif., setting off an outsourcing debate.
I see nothing gained. It is an assault on the union.  A way out of a union contract. If the authorities don't like the union contracts they can try to renegotiate them.  This goon squad seems uncalled for.

Judge Blocks Parts of Arizona’s Immigration Law
“Just up on @nytimes. Judge Blocks Parts of Arizona’s Immigration Law - http://nyti.ms/9FOkjN”

The Judge had to act.  The law is unconstitutional.  They must find a better way.  Hard times will end the flux.

Newtown Creek Is Declared a Superfund Site
“Good news for NYC waterways - Newtown Creek joins Gowanus Canal as Superfund site. http://nyti.ms/dgZkOv” It is a simpler problem than the Gowanus. The oil spill was done by Standard Oil of New Jersey. It was broken up into seven parts. They will argue for years over which is most responsible.  The truth is that they all are.

GE lies.  The probable truth is that they do not want to have union employees.  They will use any excuse to lay them off.

In Arabian Desert, a Sustainable City Rises
“In Arabian Desert, a Sustainable City Rises - http://nyti.ms/coK4N2 > Oil money can be good for something”

I do not want to live in such a sterile crystalline environment.  It cannot grow except larger.  The link to the "live" city will be very busy.  There are reasons why cities grow in salubrious or trade-rich placces.

Study Finds That Apple Dominates Tech News
A new study confirms what some in the technology industry have long sensed: Apple commands an inordinate amount of the media’s attention.   Steve Jobs is a master of sales.  Free publicity is wonderful publicity.  Zap presentation is a great way to get it.
