    The Tea Kettle Movement
The Tea Party you’ve read about is just letting off steam. The one you haven’t is still looking for a leader with a real plan for action.
Thomas Friedman will be wrong as long as he advocates for the right.
He does not have to advocate for the left, that would be too much to ask.
He must advocate for effective and also non-toxic policies.

Many Questions about Damaged Japanese Tanker in Strait of Hormuz
“Many Questions about Damaged Japanese Tanker in Strait of Hormuz http://nyti.ms/ac34r7 #Iran #IranElection”

It would have to be a floating acoustic or magnetic mine.  There is a slight possibility that a gas cloud could have done it  but very slight.
There was no damage below the waterline. there was distributed damage above it. A large explosive at a distance at or near the surface.  Why such a mine would exist is beyond me.  If you are going to float a mine, make it a contact mine.  Deep water could require a floating mine of this type.  The anchored tether rusted off.   I would think the deploying state would make it fail safe.  Remember I do not have a professional stake in this business.

Iran: Plants to Use Benzene to Increase Gas Production
“#Iran Plants to Use Benzene to Increase Gas Production http://nyti.ms/9aKBhK”
Benzene is a fine, high octane, motor fuel except that it is a known carcinogen. It kills people.
This will be said to be "An obvious western plot."

If one knows one is damned worrying about salvation is beside the point.
The servisers will see the occupants suffer.  The bond holders get the hair cut. No one is happy.  Maybe the last set of vultures makes a little money.  Most of these wide spots are going back to weeds.

No, not emperor. Prophet. Much more frightening.

North Korea desperately needs food and fuel.  Surrender to the south is a very practical way to get it.  Continued posturing and bloviation  will only starve the rest of their population.  This is their best opportunity since partition.

Let them play.  There are no conscious computers.
There is yet to be a machine that can pass the Turing test.
If it should happen that they get there I am more than happy to sign on.  I am also happy to talk about these things.  It is and has long been a sport and a game.  I need to read the register and /. much more.  Boing boing is growing fat and lazy.  Technology review keeps trying The Scientific American seems to have wandered off again into the marketing jungle.

New Jersey Governor Says Ineffective Teachers to Lose Tenure Gov. Christie Says Ineffective Teachers Should Lose Tenure
“New Jersey Governor Says Ineffective Teachers to Lose Tenure http://nyti.ms/bGrDJP :: some attempts here to tie student perf to raises, too.”
The whole thing is a house of cards built on a faulty foundation,” said Steve Baker, a spokesman for the teachers’ union, who cited research showing that student test scores are not a reliable measure of teacher effectiveness. “This is another example of Governor Christie attempting to do education reform without input from educators.”
Christie is a Republican loyalist.  He is primarily anti union.

In Scholastic Study, Children Like Digital Reading
Many children want to read on digital devices, while parents worry technology will distract young bookworms.
Why not just let them read?  Fix the intellectual property rules. If it is games and messaging that disturb the parents put a filter on the devices.  The kids will beat it but the parents will worry less.
