“It is not that there is a lack of inventory, period,” said Jeremy V. Stein, a broker at Sotheby’s International, who, along with his wife, Robin Stein, is working with Ms. Ball to find potential buyers. “It is that there is a lack of inventory priced right.”
There will be much more that is priced to market soon.

Ian Lamont writes "MIT Media Lab and the Singapore-MIT Gambit Game Lab have just released Improviso, an online game that is part of a research project to create a more realistic game AI. Improviso requires two players, a Lead Actor and Director, who pretend to shoot a low-budget science fiction movie about a government cover-up of aliens at Area 51. The goal of the project is to gather recorded improv from thousands of games, which can be used to train an AI system that will be able to play the role of NPCs. Jeff Orkin, the MIT researcher who led game development, says that the best time to play Improviso is between 7 pm and 10 pm. Orkin is also the creator of a game AI called goal oriented action programming, first used in F.E.A.R. in 2005 and later employed in F.E.A.R. 2 and Fallout 3."

In German Trials, Airport Body Scanners Easily Confused

OverTheGeicoE writes "The German government just finished a 10-month test of millimeter-wave body scanners made by L3 Communications. It appears they are not happy with the results. The devices raise false alarms 7 times out of 10, and are confused by layered clothing, boots, zippers, pleats, and even incorrect posture. Australia recently started a trial, and the second person in at the Sydney airport set off the alarm repeatedly due to sweaty armpits."

Widespread Hijacking of Search Traffic In the US

      Posted by Soulskill
      from the par-for-the-course dept.
Peter Eckersley writes "The Netalyzr research project from the ICSI networking group has discovered that on a number of U.S. ISPs' networks, search traffic for Bing, Yahoo! and sometimes Google is being redirected to proxy servers operated by a company called Paxfire. In addition to posing a grave privacy problem, this server impersonation is being used to redirect certain searches away from the user's chosen search engine and to affiliate marketing programs instead. Further analysis is available in a post at the EFF."

      President Obama Abandons Twitter
I would imagine that it's because official White House communications - regardless of the medium - must be preserved to comply with the Presidential Records Act. Also, I suspect that there's no way for the White House to archive communications which are made from Twitter. Finally, in a camp...
Why should we care?  What could a tweet tell us? I would rather he paid attention to his job.

I think this is a statement that they will do nothing.
Paul Krugman is more hopeful.
http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/08/07/a-self-fulfilling-euro-crisis-wonkish/

"Update: Via Calculated Risk, here it comes. I think this is confirmation, although the Eurospeak is so thick I’m not entirely sure what they said. But as you may have gathered from the discussion above — or am I equally incomprehensible? — I’m for it. It’s risky, but not acting would be fatal for sure."
