Showing Gay Teens a Happy Future
A new online video channel is reaching out to teenagers who are bullied at school for being gay. The message: life really does get better after high school.
Sooner is better.   As soon as you can is best.

Outsourcing the Wrong Jobs - Room for Debate
Governments often perversely outsource jobs that are hard to monitor, yet keep
Politics says privatize.  Business says please do.  No one is watching the store.
My great uncle John spent the second half of his long career in government service trying to convince contractors that they would make enough money following the rules.  He found it a constant effort.

Not a real good way to go.  Tweets are self reported.
Works OK with a closed reporting pool.

Who Is a Jew? Court Ruling in Britain Raises Question
LONDON — The questions before the judges in Courtroom No. 1 of Britain’s Supreme Court were as ancient and as complex as Judaism itself.
If there were not at least two sides to things there would be no reason to rule on them.
I do not get to say.  I do have an opinion:
In general religion has no standing in the state and the state has no standing in religion.  Real separation is a good rule.
Britain deeply and traditionally involved with religion. The civil courts have standing in this case to the extent that the school accepts funds from the state.  If the school wishes to not follow the rulings of the courts it must refuse the public monies.

Joe Nocera has has no standing in this case.  Prosecutor Vance has been excessively Sensitive to the doubts sown by the defence.  The case should go to court with a prosecutorial team as able as the defence team.

Why Gold Came to Be a Currency - Room for Debate
In ancient civilizations, gold was a logical choice for a currency. Now the argument for it is simple: tradition.
There is a long and detailed argument against it.

We Are the Mainstream - Room for Debate
The majority of the American people are on the side of the Tea Party Patriots when we say to our government: “stop overspending.”
I would suggest that she examine her "facts".   If the tea party survives the next election I will be very surprised.  The statistics I read do not agree with her.   I have been very surprised before.
    10% is not a mainstream.

There is no need for the government to hoard gold as backing for currency; gold itself should be the currency that circulates.
