‘We Are Not Heartless People’: Green Day on Performing After Fatal Stunt

About 30 minutes before the punk band’s set at the Mad Cool Festival in Spain, an acrobat fell to his death. But Green Day says it was unaware.

Green Day needed to get paid.
If they canceled they would not have been paid.

The Mad Cool Festival could have canceled and paid Green Day.

A Quick-and-Dirty Guide for Retirement Saving

Even if retirement is decades away, there are little things you can do now that will make a big difference over time.

It is too late for me to save from income.
I am trying to minimize costs.

My approach was simple savings and checking.
All money left in the local bank at the end of the first year would go to equities in the second year.
I did not have to think beyond where to put cash now.
I hold equities until they make me afraid.
I have been caught at the bottom end of the market by buyouts and bankruptcies several times.
I am not quick and do not give the account much attention.

How Not to Get a Job

Economic ambition is not a skill.

My ambition is better understanding of the world I inhabit.

The video’s popularity emphasizes how viral videos have become increasingly political, and that interest in gatherings of world leaders is broadening.

All that is left of American politics is entertainment.
Horror and disaster are entertaining.
There is nothing constituents can easily do as individuals.

Seattle Shows the Way to Higher Pay

A recent dispute over whether Seattle’s $15 an hour minimum wage has helped or hurt workers has crucial lessons for all policy makers.

Employers have ended all the jobs they dare.
Raising the minimum wage will raise prices.
How much is debated.
More business is required to meet the higher costs.
This implies more skillful workers who will require higher pay or more workers of the same skill receiving higher pay.
If businesses do not collapse from the higher cost of workers
more business will be done.
