Science Fiction's Predictions, From Ominous to Hilarious - Room for Debate
As the author Greg Bear put it, “Science fiction works best when it stimulates debate.”
We, who have been paying attention know where it started and why.

I have not yet read the whole discussion but Sheree Renée Thomas'
sad attempt to rewrite history misses whatever point there is in it.

There they are.   The F.B.I. is determined.

      Nothing more recent on Google.

Why Isn't the U.S. a Leader in Green Technology? - Room for Debate
Americans pride themselves on being global leaders in innovation. So why is the nation lagging behind China and Germany on renewable energy?
Because there is no real innovation there.  We have been there and done that.  The work of the moment is in the design of fission reactors.
We may find greener energy.  It will be a discovery.  Such are unpredictable.

Science Fiction So Crazy It Might Come True - Room for Debate
Submarines and iPads appeared in fiction before they were invented. Now there's a real
"In what ways has science fiction foreshadowed actual discoveries and inventions? Where have writers been surprisingly off base (so far)?"
This is really the wrong question.
SF makes no claim of forecasting or prophesy.
Every author I have met( several ) understands that Faster Than Light means time travel and that both are signatures of fantasy.
The game is entertainment.  The goal is a new story.

Street Style Is Too Self-Aware - Room for Debate
    The streets are now less

Street style is not of the streets.  It is style when you can buy it made. it is street when the wearer made it up.

    Kindle Connects to Library E-Books
An e-book is a digital file.  If I can't crack it with the tools available I can get other tools.  Image copy is an easy thing to do.  I will have to investigate.
If I do it right it should take very little time to make a copy.

Can Israel Survive Without a Palestine? - Room for Debate
Abbas and Netanyahu are at a stalemate on the statehood issue. Wouldn't Israel be better off with a viable Palestine?
I really doubt it.  I read the article.  I understand his problem.
Israel can take the Palestinians in as citizens or it can kill them.
It can write separation of religion and law, freedom of worship and forbid the establishment of a state religion in the new constitution.
It need not take the influx quickly.  It cannot have a nonviable state on its border. It cannot refuse the Palestinians return and citizenship and justice.

What's Next? The Cognocene - Room for Debate
We may well be working ourselves out of the Anthropocene, and into a world where cognition arises from techno-human networks.
I am not going to worry about it.  Most of the world will not participate.
Our ways of living continuously evolve. Our attachments change.  Most of my life does not involve a computer.  Not true at the moment.
I object when the computer acts for me.  I act.  Often the computer is where.

Science Fiction Imagines, so Inventors Can Invent - Room for Debate
Science fiction writers are wrong more often than they’re right — maybe 9 to 1 — but in the anticipation business, that’s a pretty good ratio.
Most of the stories do not speculate on technology in detail.
James gun needs to footnote his statistics.  I can make no such count.

Dream vs. Nightmare Scenario in the Mideast - Room for Debate
Stabilization of the Palestinian state -- with Israel's help -- is Israel’s only chance to survive in more than its name.
An odd vision of what the state of Israel is and should be.
Israeli citizens who are not Jewish are inevitable.  Learning to deal with them justly is a necessity.
I cannot force it on them.
There will be no peace without justice.
There should be no second diaspora.
