    What happens when more writers have the option of a one-stop shop: agent, publisher and bookseller.
    Not much.
    They are just another book seller and publisher.  
    The agents will last as long as independent writers.  The agents are the writer's sales force.

    Writers have always known that their problem is to be paid for art.
