New Yorkers Face Hard Decisions After Collapse of Health Republic Insurance

Some New Yorkers who have the company’s health insurance policies said they were worried how they would pay medical expenses next month, after Health Republic closes on Nov. 30.

Supreme Court Sides With Police Officer Who Shot Man in Car Chase

In the case, a majority of the Supreme Court ruled that the officer had qualified immunity after he shot a suspect fleeing in a car from an overpass in Texas.

"In her dissent, Justice Sotomayor said the chosen alternative amounted to “rogue conduct.”
“Chadrin Mullenix fired six rounds in the dark at a car traveling 85 miles per hour,” she wrote. “He did so without any training in that tactic, against the wait order of his superior officer, and less than a second before the car hit spike strips deployed to stop it.”"
I agree with Justice Sotomayor.

California: Complaint Filed Over Work for Governor

A worker in the state oil and gas regulatory agency lodged a whistle-blower’s complaint over being ordered to prepare a state map of the oil and gas potential, history and geology of Gov. Jerry Brown’s family ranch.

A spokesman for the governor said that he is allowed access to public records just as any member of the public is, and that oil and gas regulators routinely do such research for the public.

There is some proving to be done.
Governor Brown is a member of the public.
