New Generation of Diesel Technology

The Diesel Technology Forum rebuts an Op-Ed essay raising doubts about “clean diesel.”

 Allen Schaeffer is lying.
His employment requires it of him.
"Clean Diesel" is an engine design used by Volkswagen.
The design is not as good as is required.

Diesel engines are very good at constant and slowly varying loads.  This does not describe automotive loads.
Diesel fuel is much cleaner than it was.
The energy content is unchanged.
The carbon content is unchanged.
The thermodynamics of the diesel cycle are unchanged.
