Florida Revamps Death Penalty, Making It Harder to Sentence Someone to Die

The new legislation grew out a Supreme Court order saying jurors did not have enough say in whether someone was put to death for committing a crime.

"The legislation, which seeks to address the objections of the Supreme Court in its decision to strike down Florida’s capital punishment law, passed the Senate by a vote of 35 to 5. The measure will be sent to Gov. Rick Scott, who is expected to sign it into law."

Video: Romney Denounces Trump, and Trump Responds

Mitt Romney pleaded with Republicans to support a presidential candidate other than Donald Trump, and Mr. Trump swiftly responded.

The pot calls the kettle black.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/04/opinion/clash-of-republican-con-artists.html

"So Republicans are going to nominate a candidate who talks complete nonsense on domestic policy; who believes that foreign policy can be conducted via bullying and belligerence; who cynically exploits racial and ethnic hatred for political gain.
But that was always going to happen, however the primary season turned out. The only news is that the candidate in question is probably going to be Donald Trump. Establishment Republicans denounce Mr. Trump as a fraud, which he is. But is he more fraudulent than the establishment trying to stop him? Not really." . . .

North Carolina: Details Released on Fatal Shooting by Police Officer

A black man who was killed by a white officer in Raleigh. N.C., on Monday was shot during a struggle when the man pulled a gun and then reached toward the officer’s weapon, the police said Thursday.

Officer D. C. Twiddy probably will be exonerated.

He should have called for backup.

There is a place for DNA evidence about the posession of the second gun.
