Officer Charged in Freddie Gray Case Ordered to Testify Against Co-Defendants

The Maryland Court of Appeals ruled that Officer William G. Porter must testify against five fellow Baltimore police officers, clearing the way for long-stalled prosecutions.

"In a pair of simple four-paragraph orders that did not lay out the court’s reasoning, the Maryland Court of Appeals announced its decision to compel the officer, William G. Porter, to testify under a grant of limited immunity, meaning what he says cannot be used against him in his own trial. Just days before their fall/winter 2016 show, the designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon went out for a big, festive meal with their mothers.

“When you eat a meal, you’re in the present,” says the designer Carol Lim. She and Humberto Leon, the duo behind Opening Ceremony and Kenzo, along with their families, were seated around a long table at Han Shi Fang, a lively hot pot restaurant near the Place de la République in Paris. “Normally you’re working on something for the future or you might be reminiscing about the past, but food is one of the few things that you can just enjoy in the moment.”
