Queens Man Sentenced to 55 Years to Life for Shooting Officer in Legs

John F. Thomas, 28, received the maximum sentence for shooting Sgt. Craig Bier as he was being pursued by the police in 2012.

There is a large political element in this charge and sentence.
Order rather than justice dominates it.
John F. Thomas did not intend to kill the officer.
Ten years to life would be a  better result.
