Will the Norway Massacre Deflate Europe's Right Wing? - Room for Debate
The killings could weaken nationalist fervor in Europe, as the Oklahoma City bombing cooled off militias in the U.S. in the late 1990s.
    Not at all.
The press has gotten hold of the wrong model.  This was much more at
Ted Kaczynski than Timothy McVeigh.  The motivation was advertisement rather than direct action.

After Oil Spills, Hidden Damage Can Last for Years
“After Oil Spills, Hidden Damage Can Last for Years - http://nyti.ms/a2Y0Tw”
They are still fighting and the studies of the gulf are under seal.
Recovery looks to be well under way.  There should be some real information in a few months.  Don will hit too far south to tell us anything about the BP spill.

"Since the spill last year, messages from the coast have been somewhat mixed, with some businesses arguing that it is continuing to hurt the coast and that more assistance is needed, and others, often led by tourism officials, emphasizing the positive to entice visitors and consumers."

With Online Sales Tax, Define 'Fair' - Room for Debate
Just having a Web site should not obligate a company to collect sales taxes in every state. But Amazon is not just a Web site.
I am opposed to sales taxes.  They burden the economy.
Legislatures find them easy to pass because they are flat and insignificant to the wealthy.
I do not believe that a flat tax is a fair tax.

    The Centrist Cop-Out
Placing blame equally on Democrats and Republicans for the stalemate over the debt crisis only encourages more bad behavior.
    It is.  They do.

Lacking G.O.P. Support, House Won’t Vote on Debt Tonight
G.O.P. leaders in the House said that there will be no vote on the debt ceiling bill Thursday night, an indication that House Speaker John A. Boehner remains short of the votes necessary to pass his bill.
They passed one.  The senate tabled it in under an hour.

In Test Tube, Hint of Chemicals Coming Alive
Chemists and biologists are trying to generate the Frankensteinian spark that will jump the gap separating the inanimate and the animate.
This project when complete will satisfy the science.  The engineering is only very primitive.

Spotify Unshackles Online Music - David Pogue
This month, via Spotify, the music world took a great step forward toward the holy grail of a free, legal, song-specific and convenient service.
It is good in so far as it goes.  It is an internet streaming system.  There is a call for critical content.  Play lists by knowledgeable persons.

Bad for Employers and Employees - Room for Debate
New Jersey’s anti-preference law imposes otherwise avoidable compliance costs, with few benefits to the state’s citizens.
    A silly argument.
This law only tries to cover-up the disastrous condition of employment in the state of New Jersey.
