Hospitalists have increasingly taken over patient care in hospitals and are credited with reducing costs.

This is a change in the philosophy of medicine. Moving from a physician in an office

to a room in a hospital as the centre of care. Once it was a room in a home. House calls are gone.

Doctor comes to patient. Patient goes to doctor. Patient and doctor go to hospital. Patient goes to hospital patient assigned doctor. A formalization of medicine as experienced by me. I have not known my doc for decades.
