Video: Fire Engulfs Historic French Church

Video captured a fire on the roof of the 19th century Basilica of Saint Donatian on Monday in the western French city of Nantes.

The roof spaces of churches are notoriously fire prone.
Smoking and lightening as well as open flame lamps are reasons.
This roof has an iron frame. Medieval buildings used a timber frame.
Fire in the roof would often bring down the vaulted ceiling.

Nineteenth century is Gothic Revival and modern.

Migrant Workers in Dominican Republic, Most of Them Haitian, Face Deportation

Undocumented workers in the Dominican Republic have until Wednesday to register their presence in the country, in the hope of ultimately being allowed to stay.

The best thing we could do for Haiti is a progressive and agnostic newspaper in Creole with editorial cartoons and a French language translation as a separate publication.

Europe’s Highest Appeals Court Backs Bond-Buying Program

The program, known as Outright Monetary Transactions, was introduced in September 2012 but has never been used. Despite that, it is credited with helping the European Central Bank to rescue the euro.

A lender of last resort prevents liquidity crises.
It will not treat solvency problems.
The ECB can save Greece short term.
Long term there are only default also known as inflation or debt cancellation as in bankruptcy.

The problem is the sudden change of expectations across the board.
