Laudato si' (Praise Be to You) is the second encyclical of Pope Francis. The encyclical has the subtitle On the care for our common home.[1] In it, the Pope criticises consumerism and irresponsible development, and calls for "swift and unified global action" to combat environmental degradation and climate change (also known as global warming).[2]
The encyclical, dated 24 May 2015, was officially published at noon on 18 June 2015, accompanied by a news conference.[2] The Vatican released the document in Arabic, German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, and Portuguese.[3]
The encyclical is the second published by Francis, after Lumen fidei ("Light of Faith"), which was released in 2013. Since Lumen fidei was largely the work of Francis' predecessor Benedict XVI, Laudato si' is generally viewed as the first encyclical that is entirely Francis' work.[4][5]

Pope Francis Aligns Himself With Mainstream Science on Climate

If anything, environmental scientists say, the pope may have bent over backward to offer a cautious interpretation of the scientific facts.

Morality is not a basis for policy.
The basis is political.
The question is how shall we live.
It is not how should we live.
If humanity continues to live as it has the populations will crash.
Those crashes will probably destroy civil culture and central authorities.

There is a benefit to religious backing for political necessity.
Religion cannot replace politics.

Texas: Deep Fryers, Once Banned by State, Are Allowed to Return to Public Schools

Sid Miller, the state’s new agriculture commissioner, says government mandates have failed to make children healthier in Texas, where roughly two-thirds of residents are considered overweight or obese.

"The National School Lunch Program puts caloric ceilings on high school lunches at between 750 and 850 calories, and saturated fat must be less than 10 percent of total calories. That standard makes it unlikely that schools will resume deep-frying."

A yelling point.
