Bomb Took 3 Limbs From Giles Duley, but Not His Can-Do Spirit

"“I thought, ‘Right hand? Eyes?’ ” — he realized that all of these were intact — “and I thought, ‘I can work.’ ”
Mr. Duley, 39, was wounded in February in Kandahar Province, becoming another in the long line of casualties in the Pentagon’s offensive to displace the Taliban from one of its rural strongholds."
Yes.  There is more of me and more of life.  For me a photograph is a picture and it communicates my thoughts.  Ben Fernandez said: "A picture is the information it conveys."  He was a recorder of the politics of the Sixties who became a professor of photography.
Harold Eugene "Doc" Edgerton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Eugene_Edgerton ) taught the same lesson.
We pay a terrible price for the venality at the center of our political philosophy.

    An Interview With Mario Testino
    More Testino, less Menkes.

    Very pretty girls.

    Image as business.
    I do photography as tool.

One could automate a navigator.  A crew is far better.  Driver, navigator and med tech.
Here if you call 911 you get cops and the cops call the ambulance.
Personal experience.  With this kind of field triage a crew of three is practical.

"He survived. Even in the vigil, he said, he never accepted the possibility of death. “I would think, ‘breathe, breathe, breathe,’ ” he said."

Pneumonia diagnosed as bronchitis.  I was out for ten weeks.
I would wake feeling good, shower and fall down from lack of air.
Smoking for ten years did not help.
Tobacco is really nasty.  I will not go there again.

Let the engineers fix it.
That will cost less in the medium range.
We will have to plan for flooding.
