With This Ring, I Thee Send to the Emergency Room

The future bride was given an engagement ring so small, it cut off the flow of blood to her finger.

You will have to pick a ring that fits.
Sooner is better.      As soon as you can is best.

As Uber Leaders Step Aside, Arianna Huffington’s Influence Grows

In the 14 months since she joined the board, Ms. Huffington has been a public voice for the start-up and a close confidante to its chief executive.

Uber should not be recognizable in its future.

Slack Is Said to Be in Talks to Raise $500 Million

The office messaging company is not yet profitable, but new funding could raise its valuation to $5 billion as it faces rivals like Microsoft’s Teams.

Microsoft should go bankrupt.

Al Franken and Olivia Wilde: Calling a Lie a Lie

The senator and the actress discuss truth and untruth in the age of “alternative facts” and the importance of thinking for yourself.

Not funny but light and amusing.

Carrie Fisher Died From Sleep Apnea and Other Factors, Coroner Says

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said investigators have not been able to determine an exact cause of death for the actor who died in December.

I am sorry she is dead.
I am glad it seems to be of natural causes.

Escapees Who Killed Two Prison Guards Are Captured, Georgia Governor Says

On the third day of a nationwide manhunt, Donnie R. Rowe and Ricky Dubose were arrested after a car chase in Tennessee.

I don't feel much about this escape.
I am curious how they acquired a gun or guns.
It is probably good they survived.

Are the English Fit to Govern Themselves?

Britain once questioned whether Ireland was capable of self-rule. Now the Irish wonder whether the Brits are up to it.

Great Britain is an empire on its islands.
It should never have joined the E.U.
WOGs still start at Calais.
Westminster never believed the Irish were British or human.
Westminster has not made peace with the revolting provinces on the Continent of Europe.

In New L.I.R.R. Concourse, Commuters Can’t Quite Forget Transit Woes

Passengers praised a new train hall across from Penn Station, but wondered when the rest of the New York City area’s transit might start measuring up to global standards.

There are still just the two century old East River tunnels.
Sunnyside yard is gone.  The West Side yard is full of new buildings.  The Hudson river tunnels are also a century old and at capacity.  The east side connector to Grand Central is not open.  Maintenance on trains is done at Hillside in outer Queens.  The state of New York would like to deny it owns the L.I.R.R.
The passengers will never be satisfied.

I’m O.K. — You’re Pure Evil

Steve Scalise’s shooting compels reflection about our spewing, sparring ways.

Just live with it.

— Which could do with a comb
But never mind — You murmur
‘We’re nearly there.’"
