Fiat Chrysler Issues Recall of 2011-2014 Dodge Chargers

Fiat Chrysler said that it would recall about 322,000 Dodge Charger sedans because their side airbags could deploy when car doors are slammed.

It is a bigger problem than the first estimate.
The solution can be made in China or Korea.

California: Spring Oil Spill Estimate Grows

Documents released on Wednesday disclosed that an oil spill from a ruptured pipeline that fouled California beaches in the spring might have been far larger than projected.

Puerto Rico: Water Rationing Is Extended

A deepening drought that has affected 2.5 million Puerto Ricans forced the government on Wednesday to extend severe water rationing measures to more communities.

We are told that PR is in an austerity death spiral.
All that is needed to end it is the taxes on the rich.

‘The Fifth Season,’ by N.K. Jemisin

In this novel, civilization faces destruction and the world itself is an enemy.

Most fantasies fail to amuse me.  Cleverness is enough.

If You Were the Boss, Would You Raise the Minimum Salary to $70,000?

Dan Price drew wide praise and intense criticism for his plan to raise the minimum salary at his company to $70,000. How would you compensate your employees?

It would depend on how much income they generated. They should be paid most of that.  Support people are almost as valuable.

I have not properly considered the problem.  I do not have that scale of business.

The city’s housing authority must balance two needs: to keep public housing communities economically diverse, and to make room for the neediest residents.
