The break will come in several weeks.
There will be plenty of time to loose money in the interim.

I never paid attention to Gore Vidal.

I expect he was much in favor of a verbal joust. 
He would take any position counter to his potential opponent
as a good debater must. 
Some positions are much more defensible than others.
Ignore this hatchet job.  The man is dead.

I enjoy considering alternatives. 
I like to pick my fights.
Sometimes the view held by others is true.

His point seems to be that often the best "human interest" story is none.

I have little interest in reviewing old wars. 
Things are as they stand.  
New and different adventures await us.
Sooner is better.  As soon as you can is best.
