What Religion Gives Us (That Science Can’t)

No amount of scientific explanation or sociopolitical theorizing is going to console a grieving mother.

Stephen T. Asma  fails in his first philosophical duty.
The search for truth.
Science does not and cannot deal with the Truth of Faith.
Any claim of philosophical truth based on Revealed Truth is unsustainable.
Any pretension of scientists to Truth by Revelation is inherently false.
Any claim that the universe loves people is Revealed Truth.

Human love can be observed though it is difficult to measure.
Empathy and sympathy and love by human beings require no Faith.

Do what works.

To pretend love in search of power is ethically intolerable.

Living human beings depend on their microbiomes.

Keeping pathogens out of the food is best done by government regulation.
Agrobusiness must meet standards along with individual farmers.

People have the right to make themselves sick.
That right extends to dependent children.

Government sanctioned trade does not have that right.

The Rangers have a tough job policing visitors and wildlife.
