It's not surprising that Texaco polluted the Amazon basin. Their management has been involved in questionable deals and racist policies previously. We, the US, must take serious steps to heavily tax oil and gas hogs, SUV's, and luxury cars. We must realize that cheap oil is not our inalienable right, as most red=blooded American males believe. Of course, heavy taxation is not politically possible. So we will muddle through day to day until we slowly choke on our own exhaust.

BP should not be the only target in this blame game. Each and everyone of us should feel responsible. AS we continue to destroy our environment one way or another, it appears no warnings are enough to change our ways. I fled the N.E. Pennsylvania area from the destruction of the hills and rivers for the Gulf coast many years ago. I CAN NO LONGER RUN AWAY. God help us.
