The peril of a transracial universalism approach is that it fails to address racial inequality but continues to breed racial resentment. The promise of the approach is that it can convince white citizens that their needs also matter and that this is not a zero-sum game. Only historians will be able to tell us whether peril or promise will describe accurately transracial universalism."
